The project was to design a new innovative product for a housewares company to remove some form of clutter, while finding a way to add value. My design was for users who frequently fly with carry on luggage. It is similar to a closet in the sense the user doesn't have to ever unpack since it allows them to stand the suitcase up without the clothes falling out, as well a being a way to organize the clothes within a suitcase more efficiently.

The process involved user testing, low fidelity prototypes (works-like and looks-like), and coming up with the final materials and overall design of the product. This involved hand sewing, glueing, hand cutting of cardboard and wool felt, laser etching into leather, and final assembly.

Materials
The final materials chosen were wool felt and leather. This is because the material had to be light due to the weight restrictions when flying, yet still solid enough to support the weight of the clothing. It also is a natural material which is better for the environment and is extremely durable. The leather was used to add branding as well as pleasant aesthetics.

The final design is two shelves/dividers that clip into the inside of the suitcase. This allows the clothes to be supported when the suitcase is stood up and won't fall out. There is also a box that holds small lose items or is used to separate dirty clothes from clean ones.
